BACKGROUND :
The topic of this side meeting is the Global Virome Project (GVP), a 10-year effort to collect information on the majority of the world’s unknown animal viruses and, of those, identify the subset most likely to “spill over” to humans. GVP aims to enable global health stakeholders to use this information to improve prevention, detection and response capabilities.
OBJECTIVES :
The objective of this meeting is to follow-up on the Global Virome Project “open session” and further introduce GVP to a group of government-focused stakeholders (whose degrees of familiarity with GVP will vary) and seek informed feedback on its value proposition, operating model, and other considerations related to resource mobilization.
